Shirley Moo-Cow

My friend and walking buddy Shirley is BACK!
first, she was on VACATION.
then, she had to get SPAYED,
and wasn't able to play with me.
Today, we were reunited with a walk on the beach.
It was lovely =)

Super Puppy to the Rescue

Today I tried to be a rescue dog.

I was running around in the ocean,
DARTING after anything moving in the tide,
and just generally frolicking in the shallow water-
my normal morning walk routine-
when I saw an old man floundering out in the waves.

So I ran out,
JUMPED over a wave trying to crash on my head,
and started to paddle out toward him.
(Mind you, I'm not normally much of a swimmer,
I tend to wimp out when the waves start
and it gets too deep for me to stand).

Turns out, he wasn't "floundering"
but SWIMMING.
And he could stand up.
So he got up and started walking out
before I made it to him.

He seemed grateful nonetheless.

Grandma Jo

Grandma Jo was here! Just for a day and a half, but Mom says she'll be back next week. I like to jump on her bed and wake her up at 6:30 in the morning... I think she likes it too.

CHRISTMAS is coming!!

christmas is coming!
"What?! "
you say, in JULY?!
Yes, precisely.

We are having a Christmas in July party this Saturday (because who says Santa has to come only once each year?). I've been a good pup, so I know there will be something special under the tree for me...

that's right
there's a TREE.
Mom and her friends Julia, Becky, and Liss put it up this afternoon. Here we are, all proud of ourselves after getting it together - those fake trees are harder to set up than one would think!

Come Saturday, it will be surrounded with gifts for the Yankee Swap. If you live close enough, you should come.
maybe,
if you're lucky,
i'll save you a Christmas cookie.

what the F are CHIGGERS???

Here's a picture of my Mom's foot, currently covered in Chigger bites:

Disgusting, right?? And this was taken more than a week after the fateful incident. We went hiking / camping the weekend before last (I liked it, minus the ridiculously hot temperature inside the tent - how cute am I with my little doggie backpack?):

and when we came out of the woods and Mom took off her socks at shoes, she had little tiny black dots all over her legs and feet. She then noticed the dots were MOVING and needless to say, freaked out. The little buggers wouldn't come off, and apparently got lots and lots of biting done before she was able to scrape them forcibly from her skin. You can see the line where her sock ended and the bug spray began... and YES, she says they itch as bad as they look, probably worse. Despite having been to the Dr., who informed her the little buggers must have been CHIGGERS, and gave her a prescription, and the many many applications of calamine lotion and hydrocortisone cream and benadryl and claritan and ice packs and oatmeal rubs and alcohol and aloe... she still itches.

Moral of my story: don't go into the woods in coastal NC in July. It's just a bad idea.
